There is a digital divide between different socio-economic status families which causes disruptions for students below the poverty line when it comes to research, homework, and internet access outside of school. Developing and sustaining community centers where students have consistent access to digital devices and the on-line access they allow will help to close this gap.
Also, toward this same ends . . . smart phone and tablet recycling programs geared specifically for increasing access would also be valuable.
Also, developing and implementing technologies that allow a greater bandwidth and wider range of wifi can help to close the gap between those who have access to the internet and those who do not.
